We have had a great summer on the bay.  Moonshadow has some new bells and whistles.  Such as electric furler for the genoa and staysail.  Also, we have added a roll gen for our spinnaker.  We also had to remove our water line, so we could raise it.  We have had a blast trying the new toys on the Bay.

We have managed to go to three weddings and a family reunion this summer.  We went to Geppert Camp for Monica's 40th Birthday, where friends joined us. After Monica's birthday we went to a Jimmy Buffet Concert.  We visited our friends in New York City for two days.  It has been a very busy summer.

OK... The trip up the US east coast was flat, and swift being in the Gulf Stream, we carried 3.5 to 2 knots of current which gave us great boat speed. Averaged 198 nm day 1, 189 nm day 2, 176 nm day 3, and 182 day 4. Than to Cape Hatteras famous for storms and ship wrecks. Well we sure had some great storms last night. Monica was on watch and saw 3 huge water spouts, multiple lighting strikes, winds to 25 knots and seas built to 5-8ft. Moonshadow hung in there and got us through safely. Now the water is green not emerald blue, the temperature is in the 60's not 82. The sky is cloudly not clear. We are woundering why did we come back. Hope it gets better. Should be into Hampton VA late this afternoon.

We are under way once again. We purchased a SPOT tracking device, which you can follow us under the icon track us. We in the gulf stream right now at 29 14.571 N & 79 45.355 W. We have been averaging about 8.8 knots since yesterday at 2:00 pm. We are riding the current in the gulf stream & have done about 200 miles so far. It is fantastic. We are currently motoring due to no wind once again.

Two night ago we had major light show that lasted all night long. We saw about 25 strikes of lightening to the water the rest was heat lightening. During the night it became very calm. So, Paul decided to transfer fuel out of the fuel bladder into our tanks. This requires the engine to off. Well soon as we turned the engine off the wind picked up to 18 to 25 knots of breeze. It only last for a half an hour. Once Paul was done we had to turn the engine back on to motor sail. Yesterday was pretty uneventful. However, we did get showers. We both caught up on some much needed sleep. Last night we were about 150 miles, which would put us in port around midnight tonight. We decided to slow the boat down at that time so that we would arrive tomorrow morning. That way it would be day light so we can see all the channel markers to the marina. So, we are looking at about another 15 hours until we are tied up at the marina. We can not wait!

Yesterday we had a fantastic spinacker sail for four hours in the afternoon. We did not want to fly the spinacker at night so we ended up motor sailing the rest of the night and today. The winds are 5 to 7 knots dead down wind. We are about a hundred miles away form the Old Bahamian Channel. We have been seeing a lot of freighters. Thank god for AIS. AIS are installed on all commercial vessels. We also have it. It shows which way the boat is going, what type of boat they are, and how close they are to you. It is a wonderful system! We are doing well, but a little sleep deprived. The most sleep we get at different times of the day is 1 to 3 hours. However, we do get these 3 to 4 times a day. Speaking of which it is time for me to nap. Goodnight!
