"Departure at 12:00 pm"

Monday May 1, 2011.  Winds are 15 to 20 knots out of the north east.  We all had a great night sleep and went up to Genurakers for breakfast.  We bought some more water and filled up all empty bottles.  We were not able to get our generator to run for more than 30 minutes which means we are unable to make  water.  After that we strapped the dinghy down, topped off our water tanks, and closed all hatches.  We were done pretty quick.  We ended up standing around and talking to a few people.  Around 11:00 am we pulled out of the slip.  No Problem!  Off we went to the starting line.

This morning I was catching a ride into Road Town to due provisioning for the trip.  The rally had it lined up for a shuttle to Bobby's Market.  It was about a 20 minute ride and there were 5 other people too.  All the groceries are expensive in the islands and good luck trying to find everything you want.  There are not many meats and you need to look at the vegetables really good before buying them.  After an hour I had a full cart and checked out.  Back to Moonshadow I go.  Once I got back to the marina there were no carts to be found.  I asked one of the gentleman on Suzie Q if he would mind watching my groceries while I ran to the boat to get the crew to help me.  Everyone helped to get things put away.  I started to make rice bean salad.  While I was gone the guys were checking the weather.&n

It is Thursday April 28, 2011.  It was a rough morning!  But, we got our day going.  Andrew worked on communications.  Paul and Dan worked on getting the boat ready for sea.  I worked on provisioning and made a pot of chili  to freeze for 2 dinner evenings.  I also worked on getting the cabin ready for sea.  We also figured out our deck prism were leaking after all the deck was done.  Miles pulled the prism and re bedded them.  That evening there was a social hour and dinner with the rally.  We got to see some new and old faces.  The next day was more work.  The guys pulled forward with Moonshadow.

Back to Nanny Cay today.  We left around 10:30 am.  Our next crew member, Andrew, is coming in today.  Well, when we came around the island to heading to Nanny cay, we got the crap beat out of us.  It was blowing 30 knots on the nose and had 6 to 8 foot seas. They were not swells either.  It was all chop.  It felt like we were back on the Chesapeake Bay.  We average 2.2 knots through the water.  It took us 3 hours instead of 1 hour to get there.

It's Tuesday April 26, 2011.  We had a big day ahead of us.  WE had Davis Murray, "Barefoot Davis" is coming aboard to adjust our compass.  We realized on the way down to the islands our compass was out of fluid.  So we took it home and sent it away to get serviced.  So, Davis came out to the boat by dinghy with his Polaris.  He got all set up and looked at Paul and said, "lets go."   Paul looked at him and said, "where."  I said, "start the engine baby!"  Our compass had no adjustment screws.  We had to go out and swing the compass.  So, for a half an hour we motored north, south, west, east, north east, north west, south east, and south west.  Our compass was all good with a 2 degree deviation.  Davis wrote down all the numbers on a piece of paper for t
