Compass Is Getting Adjusted Today

It's Tuesday April 26, 2011.  We had a big day ahead of us.  WE had Davis Murray, "Barefoot Davis" is coming aboard to adjust our compass.  We realized on the way down to the islands our compass was out of fluid.  So we took it home and sent it away to get serviced.  So, Davis came out to the boat by dinghy with his Polaris.  He got all set up and looked at Paul and said, "lets go."   Paul looked at him and said, "where."  I said, "start the engine baby!"  Our compass had no adjustment screws.  We had to go out and swing the compass.  So, for a half an hour we motored north, south, west, east, north east, north west, south east, and south west.  Our compass was all good with a 2 degree deviation.  Davis wrote down all the numbers on a piece of paper for the deviation table.  He went in his bag and realized he had no deviation tables with him.  Paul looked at him and said, "No deviation table no pay!"  We all got a chuckle out of that.  Davis is coming to Nanny Cay to see everyone going on the Atlantic Cup.  He said he would bring the table with him.  Davis also brought a diesel can along with him.  He said he had too many and either keep it or give it to some one in the rally.  So, we decided to keep it.  Davis got into his dinghy and took off to Red Hook.  We started a path back to Soper's Hole, BVI.  We got there around 2:30 PM.  First thing we headed over to customs to check in.  Then we went over to Bobby's Market for some groceries.  That evening we went over to the Jolly Rogers.  Paul was craving chocolate cake in a very bad way.  Thank god they had it there!
