Just had a conversation with a boat 51 ft Benateau that was in the rally They got in on Tues. and left wed for St Martin. They are in Simpson Bay here (a beautiful anchorage) If you have the time try it -- It isn't that far. So glad to see you made it safely to your destination Wish I was there Fred
So glad you are having good weather Hope you didn't get too beat up the first few days If it is any consolation it was cloudy, rainy, & windy in St.Martin 600 miles or more south of you Fred
Sounds like all of you are adjusting well to life at sea. At least there are 4 of you sit watches. Judy & I were all we had & no one else to turn the helm over to. Thank goodness for our third & best crew member AUTOPILOT She never complained or took a break By the way how did the vane handle the boat & seas? Glad you are having fun Fred
Now you two can enjoy each others company. No one to bother you. Take off for Anigota & find a secluded anchorage to fully kick back This is what being a CRUISER is all about.
I think I told you that Al fractured his sholder while replacing the Perkins engine. He is out of commission until Jan. according to Lois.
Enjoy Mafe sure to visit Foxies Fred
All the pictures I see of the stern don't show the vane. How did it work under the big waves off the rear quarter? Wait to hear
We are back in PA once again. Fred
Glad you two are back on board. When do you expect to head out for Bermuda & then back to the Bay? Hope you have fair winds 7 smooth seas all the way back.
The new paint job looks great Fred
It is Feb.18,2013 We are still in Cancun for 2 more weeks.
Where are you two enjoying the winter months these days? Seems like it has been an awful long time since we heard from you. When you can let me hear about your travels. Waiting to hear Fred
Hope all is well in Paradise Lynn & I are enjoying the warm breezes as well as the sunny days of Cancun for the next 7 weeks. Then we will return to try & prepare Wild Oats for spring commissioning about April 15 th. or sooner. I cannot wait The bottom was not as bad as I expected after being in the water continuously for 3 years with two trips south in that time. It was time to be pulled & let dry out for a few months. No blisters thank goodness. The Insurance survey went well. Now I am in good shape for a few more years.
Keep in totch When are you headed north?
Fair winds & good sails Fred
Have a wonderful time I will miss being able to meet you either at anchor or at Bert Jabins Yard
Did you change crew for the trip? I don't know why but I thought it was another sailing couple you had met. Please stay in totch. Are you with the Salty Dogs or the Rally?
Fred S/V Wild Oats
Glad you are in & can get some badly needed rest Will wait to hear all about the voyage. Guess you are glad you did not go with the Salty Dogs. Sounds like they are having worse weather than you experienced
Fred (WildOats)
Glad you are in the BVI's Safe & sound Sounds like many of the Salty Dawgs had a rough time getting across the stream. How bad was it for you? Guess the northerly quadrent of the wind against the stream must have been rough even though the sea's were still 4 to 6 feet.
Wait to hear Fred ( Wild Oats)
