Well, we had a rough ride last night!  All the worrying I did ending up making me sick when I woke up.  I was trying to pull my self together to do my watch at 6:00am.  It was about 30 degrees outside and required to put lot of layers on.  After getting all the layers on, I finally made it up to the cockpit.  Only to end up getting sick.  So, there I am puking about 4 times over the rail while Paul kept steering the boat.  After getting all that out, I started to feel a little better.  What a great start to the day!  Paul ended up staying on the helm for a while for me.  I ended up taking the SSB Radio Call in this morning, which is normally Paul's job.  I ended finding out that there was a low pressure moving to Bermuda by Thursday and we needed to get through the Gulf Stream immediately to avoid crazy big seas.

It is finally departure day.  We woke up at 5:AM and were ready to start our voyage.  We decided to leave before the 11:00 am departure time so that we would be out of all the confusion of everyone trying to leave at the same time.  It is only about 40 degrees out and the sun is shining.  We left the dock at 7:30 am.  It was a stellar departure.  Moonshadow backed right out of the slip without hitting any boats or pilings and off we went.  Our neighbors, Rule 62, followed our lead and were right behind us.  We motored out to the Territorial demarcation line.  Which is the entrance to the Atlantic Ocean.  After crossing, the main went up.  Followed by the genoa and stay sail.  We were averaging 8 knots in 15-25 knots apparent wind.  It was absolutely incredible.  This was the first time we had all

We're about two days out of Tortola, we've been having a blast, and we are fine.   We heard that one of the boats may have had a problem and just wanted everyone to know that we're doing fine.  We've been having a great time, had Mahi Mahi on the table, and are now doing some motor sailing and expect to be in Tortola in about 2 days.   Lots more to tell once we're in the marina and have connectivity.  Monday, Nov 15, 9:30am.

Editors Note 4:30pm:  A boat that diverted to the Bahamas was swamped and a crew member is missing.  Below is the sad news about Rule 62, the boat that was beside Moonshadow in Hampton.  At the bottom there's a video report from an Atlanta TV station.

It is Monday November 8, 2010.  The boat and crew are ready!  We woke up at 5:00 am and are planning to leave the dock by 7:00 am.  We definitely have plenty of food!  Being in Hampton for two weeks gave me plenty of time to shop every other day.  I am not sure how much food I have anymore, but we could probably feed a small army.  Paul cooked breakfast this morning for the crew.  He made a kick ass egg sandwich.  So, now we are ready to go!  It's time for a change in latitude & attitude.  So, c-ya in about 10 days!!!!

Our neighbors Richard and Debbie, Rule 62, informed us they have a traveling mug that has it's own web site.  So, we decided to have a cheeseburger party and introduce Morty to the Mug.  We ended up having a surprise visitor.  The famous Juan On A Stick.  The three of them ended up having a blast together.
