12/24/2013 - 3:13pm Kristen & Kevin Schmit LOVE IT! Paul and Monica, Just found your blog and absolutely love it! We are fellow Tayana 42 owners (as of Dec 12) We bought it in Annapolis and spent the first cruising season doing "shake down" and getting back to our home port in Portsmouth, NH. We went cruising back in 2001 for a year and since returning to "civilization", have been yearning to go back to the cruising life! We love what you have done with the boat and hope to hear more about some of the "retro fits". Good luck and if you are ever in New England, give us a holler! Would love to catch up sometime in the future and "swap stories". Until then, keep the stories and photos coming! Our hope is to "jump off" within the next 3-5 years! Fair Winds and Following Seas! 11/23/2013 - 9:42am Scott & Jeno Congrats Congrats you guys on your passage. Looks like it was rough for the first 5 days. We watched you every day! Wishing we were there with you. One of the Salty Dawgs that lost their boats were good friends of ours from our marina on Lake Superior. Wings. They left the lake 1 month before we did. They did the Bahamas last year, then did the rally. Lost their engine, and rudder, and the boat is lost. It's all they had. Retired...very nice folks. We are sad for them. A chopper lifted them off the boat. Happy for you! Stay in touch. Work...sucks. Gotta work to sail......at least we do! Love, Scott and Jeno S/V Pendragon Caribbean 1500 2013
11/16/2013 - 2:30am fred Congratulations Glad you are in the BVI's Safe & sound Sounds like many of the Salty Dawgs had a rough time getting across the stream. How bad was it for you? Guess the northerly quadrent of the wind against the stream must have been rough even though the sea's were still 4 to 6 feet. Wait to hear Fred ( Wild Oats) Caribbean 1500 2013

10/31/2013 - 10:40am Bob Morrow Carib 1500 I envy you guys so much. Having done the 1500 twice before I know the fun and anticipation of the days before departure. Unfortunately my life right now is too complicated with land based concerns, and cash flow (or lack of it) problems. At least the government shut down didn't prevent my Soc. Sec. from coming this month which is a big relief. Have fun and drink a beer for me, but don't make it the "one too many" especially the night before departure.
